Run Run Run

So I recently started running. Something I've always hated, loathed, and detested. I never really saw the fun in running, and I was never very good at it. But, I said I'd try, so most mornings I'm out at the local track trying. I can't say it's all bad, there are a few regulars and they're pretty nice.

Sunlight

I've been trying to work with the tablet more. Not sure if I'm a fan of this song or not, but I can't get it out of my head. Perhaps because it is repetitive? Modestep - "Sunlight"

Take it how you will.

A Cat Story

So now I'm back home, which is great and terrible all at the same time. I have more time to work on projects I want to do. The thought is frightening. But hey, now I have time to update my blog, and post things.

Unfortunately I don't really have anything to post that is finished or interesting, so have a story about my cat. There are thousands, perhaps millions of cat stories out there on the internet, and all of them have their own charm. Even the ones that are basically repeats of the last 60 you read. So why not one more right? This one has *drawn* pictures.

My cat, Rani, was a real sweetheart. She was always starved for attention and would sit on anything taking up your time.

When she couldn't find anyone to give her attention, she would meow. Quite a bit. Even though somewhere in the back of my mind I knew she was doing this to satisfy her own selfish purposes, I always gave her the benefit of the doubt.

Thesis Sketches

Here are some of the preliminary sketches I made for my thesis. This is kind of self-explanatory, I think.

I really do enjoy the sketching process.

Pieces of Thesis

I feel like, normally, the correct way to do this is to wait until after the show. Honestly, I can't imagine many people going to my Senior Show stumbling randomly upon this blog, so I feel I have nothing to fear. Now for a rather large image dump of my senior thesis. It includes 16 spot illustrations and a little extra I threw in for a joker card that I never got the chance to make. I was able to create an animation to go along with my work, which I might post later. The concept is that each suit is a different gang type, and the Hearts are the 'good guys.' Spades are the typical Italian mobsters, Diamonds are the rich types, Clubs are a mish mash, low-brow petty crimes type. Hearts are the police.

So, here are the illustrations. I've posted a few before, but they've been updated since.

Spades

Sketch for a queen of spades. Tragically, she is often mistaken for a queen of hearts.

And a mermaid.

My night just wouldn't be complete without a mermaid.

Sketch

Watercolor and pen

Watercolor is an interesting media. I'm not well versed in it, but I find it's fun to work with every once in a while.

Something Different.

A senior year wouldn't be complete without a senior project. My thesis revolves around playing cards. I'm taking each face card, as well as the four aces, and giving them a 60's gangster persona--save the hearts. They're more the good guys in this, so I've made them policemen. So far four are complete, and three mid-way. Will all sixteen be complete by April? I guess we'll find out!

White Knights

Only two more to go after this for the white chess pieces. The rook is up next.

More fishpeople.

There's something about not having to draw legs that is just so relaxing.

Next up, the white knight.

Posters

So a seal walks into a club. I know what you're thinking, and I'm way ahead of you.

Before conclusions are jumped to, I do not endorse seal clubbing, I merely use their plight for poster art.

The Start.

Greetings, world. My name is, as the title alludes, Elise Anzini, and I am a senior illustration student at Moore College of Art and Design. Here is where I will be posting art and sketches for the enjoyment, amusement, or perhaps disdain of you--the internet nomad.

I enjoy a good laugh, and people are my favorite subject. I love fantasy and nautical things, hence mermaids will probably be seen often. So, to start this blog off, a mermaid;
White Queen
I've begun a project involving chess pieces and mermaids/sea creatures. Here is the White Queen.
